About Us

In 1992, the Lord placed a vision in the heart of Pastor Norman Jackson and his wife June Jackson to start a Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Fredericksburg, VA area.  After much prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit, the Maranatha Church Company was formed at the Jackson home in the spring of 1992. The first Sabbath service was held at 303 Mine Road, Fredericksburg, VA.  The church service was attended by Pastor Norman Jackson, June Jackson, and many of their children: Freddie Jackson, Shana White, Gregory White, and Bondara Buckner.  A few weeks after the launching of the Maranatha Church, Elder Albert Zellars, founder of the Penuel SDA Church in Brandy Station, VA; and “Truth on the March Gospel Mission” in Culpeper, VA; and his church family began worshiping with Pastor Jackson and his family in their home. After a few months of worshiping with Maranatha, Elder Zellars and “Truth on The March Gospel Mission” closed their Culpeper location and united with Maranatha. 

In the fall of 1992, the Jackson Family home became too small for the growing church congregation.  Due to the rapid growth, the members began worshiping on 321 Wallace Street in Fredericksburg, VA.  At the Wallace Street location, the church continued to grow and flourish under the pastoral guidance of Pastor Jackson and his team of elders. In the late winter of 1996, the Allegheny East Conference of Seventh-day Adventists officially endorsed the Maranatha Church as an official company. In 1997 Pastor William Linthicum began to serve as the Senior Pastor of the Maranatha SDA Company.  

In 1998, Pastor Robert Lively was selected to serve as the Senior Pastor of the Maranatha SDA Company.  After three years the Lord led Pastor Lively, Pastor Jackson, and a team of church members to search for a permanent church location.  We give God the Glory that He blessed us to officially purchase our building of worship on November 30, 2001.  Also in the year 2001, the Allegheny East Conference officially accepted the Maranatha Church Company into its sisterhood of churches, transitioning the congregation into becoming the Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In 2003, Maranatha welcomed Pastor Glenford Baxter to serve as our Senior Pastor. After several years of growth, the Lord placed it upon Pastor Baxter’s heart to launch a major project of renovation for the church.  

On April 24, 2011, Elder Paul Johnson and several members of the church took the initiative and began the process of renovating the church. The renovation project was completed on November 16, 2011. On November 19, 2011, a beautiful new wing was dedicated to Maranatha.

In 2014, Pastor Roland Hill was sent to pastor Maranatha. During Pastor Hill’s tenure, more than 20 individuals were baptized and added to the membership role of our actively growing church.

In 2018, Pastor R. Greg Jones was selected as the pastor of Maranatha. Under Pastor Jones’ leadership, the church grew and flourished during the Covid-19 pandemic. Pastor Jones worked tirelessly and effectively to utilize technology to ensure that the church would continue to excellently worship during the pandemic.  

In 2021, under the pastoral guidance of Pastor Colin Brathwaite, Maranatha’s parking lot was fully and completely paved.

In 2022, Pastor Devroux Paige was selected to serve as the Pastor of Maranatha.  In August 2024, the mortgage loan for the 321 Wallace Lane church location was paid in full.  At this current location we continue to grow and thrive as a church congregation.  

In April 2026, Pastor Rodney Osborne, Jr. was selected to serve as the current Pastor of Maranatha. Under Pastor Osborne’s leadership, we continue to grow and move forward with spreading the gospel in the Fredericksburg, VA area.
